This series of Quick Battles is intended to serve as a laboratory to examine how technology,
tactics, and doctrine affect Beyond Visual Range (BVR) fighter-versus-fighter combat in CMO.
This plane set represents mature generation 4 and '4+' or ‘4.5’ fighter technology. Meanwhile, the American F-22
has been introduced as the first true generation 5 fighter. This set also demonstrates the post-Cold War proliferation
of fighter and missile technology through the commercial weapons export market and thus has a more international flavor than
previous sets. In some cases, local fighter variations are quite distinct from similar types in other air forces. China and Israel
in particular have emerged as producers of truly indigenous fighters and/or missiles. While the AMRAAM itself no longer guarantees
dominance in BVR combat, SARH missile-equipped holdouts remain.
